For Smart Metering applications the micro-electronic gas meter is the alternative to the diaphragm gas meter, which has been in existence for 150 years.
In the wake of market liberalization energy suppliers require the ability to read out meter readings of energy consumers, such as e.g. electricity or gas meters, not just once or twice a year, but at any time and from any location (Smart Metering).
The EGZ-G4 gas meter which we have developed is designed so that it can communicate with all standard remote meter reading systems. No external expensive encoder is required for this purpose, in contrast to conventional meters.
The micro-thermal measuring method with CMOS sensor enables a design without mechanically moving parts, a high measuring accuracy and optimization for minimal energy consumption. The determination of the gas consumption is independent of temperature and pressure influences.
The multi-award winning gas meter has been MID-certified since 2007 and is approved for natural gas billing applications throughout Europe. We have been further developing the technology of the electronic gas meter on behalf of the Diehl Gas Metering company since 2009 and have helped to create a new design for the device. The Aerius is sold worldwide by Diehl Gas Metering.
